FM200 is also known as heptafluoropropane or HFC-227ea. It is a colorless, odorless, non-conductive, and non-corrosive gas at room temperature with an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of zero. It serves as a clean fire-extinguishing agent for Class A, B, and C fires and complies with the NFPA 2001 standard for clean agent fire extinguishing systems.

The fire-extinguishing mechanism of FM200 is similar to that of halogenated hydrocarbons; it interrupts the combustion chain reaction, extinguishing the fire very rapidly. The extinguishing concentration of FM200 in electronic equipment rooms is 8%, a level that is harmless to humans.

When discharged, the FM200 clean agent produces a mist and a certain cooling effect, but it does not significantly impair visibility or hinder personnel evacuation.
