Purple k extinguishing agent is a a fast, efficient, environmentally friendly fire suppression agent. It is a potassium bicarbonate based dry chemical agent that extinguishes by changing flame chemistry and cooling. Purple K suppresses Class B (petroleum, oil, lubricant) and Class C (electrical) fires by interrupting a fire's chemical reaction and cooling the flame/hot surfaces (endothermic reactions and surface cooling).
In comparison to water-based extinguishing agents, water is undesirable for a Class B fire because it can spread the flames, and it is undesirable for a Class C fire due to potential shock hazards.

Purple k extinguishing agent may be used to combat fires in flammable liquids, gases, and greases (Class B) including such fires when involved with energized electrical equipment (Class C).
