PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) resin powder is a type of fine powder commonly used in printing inks; it features a melting point of 325°C and excellent heat resistance. When used in printing inks, PTFE fine powder provides superior lubricity, wear resistance, scratch resistance, anti-blocking properties, and resistance to hydrophobic soiling.

1. Improves the water resistance and rheological properties of the ink; for example, it adjusts viscosity and makes the ink flow more freely and break cleanly (shortens the ink).
2. Enhances adhesion, ensures crisp and complete print definition, and reduces smudging and agglomeration.
3. Improves smoothness to ensure smooth printing operations.
4. Reduces frictional resistance; it can also remain on the surface of the ink film to increase resistance to abrasion.
It can be added to offset printing inks, flexo printing inks, and gravure printing inks at a recommended ratio of 1 to 3%. Our PTFE micropowders outperform other high-end products in many application properties such as gloss, abrasion resistance, and smoothness. Other performances are also very competitive in the global market. As shown in the graphs shown in (a) and (b), the ink containing fine PTFE powder is significantly better at abrasion and friction than the ink without additives.
(a) The comprehensive graphic arts abrasion test simulates the relative movement of surfaces during transport. The ink contains 1% fine PTFE powder, which has significantly eliminated ink abrasion and transfer to blank sheets.
(b) The Sutherland Rub Tester moves a weighted test strip across a printed specimen. After 50 strokes at 4 psi, the ink containing 1% PTFE micropowder performed far better than the sample without the additive.
