Methylene Chloride Solvent is a colorless, transparent, highly soluble, heavier than water, volatile liquid with an ether-like smell and sweetness. It does not burn, but forms an explosive mixture when mixed with high-concentration oxygen. it is slightly soluble water is miscible with most commonly used organic solvents, and can also be miscible with other oxygen-containing solvents, ether, and ethanol in any proportion.

Methylene di chloride can be quickly dissolved in phenol, aldehyde, ketone, ice, triethyl phosphate, formamide, cyclohexylamine and carotene.

Here are some of the most common applications of Methylene chloride:

Used as solvents in film production, petroleum dewaxing solvents, aerosol propellants, organic synthetic extraction agents, foaming agents for the production of polyurethane and other foam plastics, and metal cleaning agents.

 

Methylene di chloride is used as a reaction medium in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of ampicillin, benzylpenicillin, and pioneer penicillin, etc.

Methylene di chloride is a substance used in grain fumigation and decaffeinated coffee, as a solvent, extractant, mutagen, and in botanical research.
