High Quality PTFE Micropowder

PTFE micropowder can be added to elastomers to improve both surface and bulk properties of the parts. Examples of surface properties include mold release, friction, wear, and lubricity. Tear strength, abrasion resistance, and flex life are examples of bulk properties enhanced by the addition of fluorinated additives. Various high-performance materials-such as silicone rubbers, fluoroelastomers, and fluorosilicones-exhibit poor mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, which can be detrimental to processing. For instance, some of these elastomers tear easily when removed from the mold at temperatures between 177°C and 191°C. Adding fluorinated additives can reduce damage caused by sticking or tearing by improving part release from the mold. Certain grades of PTFE-based fluorinated additives can increase the tear strength of elastomers at both room temperature and 177°C.

Fluorinated additives can be incorporated using standard elastomer mixing methods, such as Banbury mixers or two-roll mills. High concentrations of PTFE micropowders (up to 30–50% by weight of the base elastomer) can be formulated into the elastomers without compromising elastic behavior.

Not classified as hazardous for transport; avoid violent vibration, exposure to high temperatures/direct sunlight, and impact against the ground during transport;

Packaged in a sealed double-layer polyethylene bag secured with a special clip, then placed in a rigid, moisture-resistant paper pail;

Store in a clean, cool, dry warehouse to prevent contamination by moisture, dust, or other impurities, and to avoid resin agglomeration; refrigerated transport is recommended during summer.
