R245fa is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC). It is used for new installations as a specialist refrigerant in industrial air conditioning, air conditioning in buildings, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) heat recovery systems and for energy recovery systems at high ambients.
R245fa can also be used in high power installations equipped with centrifugal compressors (one or more stages) and can replace HCFC R-123.

Preparation of R245fa(1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane)
Step 1:
1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane and hydrogen fluoride are fluorinated in the gas phase under the action of a fluorination catalyst to obtain 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1-chlorine-3, which are generated by the reaction. Mixture of 3,3-trifluoropropene, 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, hydrogen chloride and unreacted hydrogen fluoride.
Step 2:
The mixture obtained in step (1) is introduced into the separation tower, hydrogen chloride is separated from the top of the tower, and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, and The mixture of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropylene and hydrogen fluoride enters the crude product tank after acid removal;
Step 3:
The mixture in the crude product tank is introduced into the degassing tower, and 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene is separated from the top of the tower and returned to the reactor to react with hydrogen fluoride to generate 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane. A mixture of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is obtained;
Step 4:
Introduce the tower still mixture in step (3) into the distillation tower to obtain 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane(R245fa).
