Application of PTFE in 5G field

Application of PTFE high frequency copper clad laminate in 5G field

Printed circuit boards are an important part of communication base stations. With the advent of the 5G information age, they are widely used in 5G base stations. The printed circuit board can be connected to the antenna array of the 5G base station, and components such as filters in the 5G base station also need a separate printed circuit board for connection, and the centralized unit and the distributed unit of the 5G base station also need to use printed circuit boards. The emergence of this kind of demand makes the printed circuit board manufacturing technology also need to be innovated. As the core substrate of the printed circuit board - copper clad laminate, it plays the role of interconnection, support and insulation for the printed circuit board.

The requirements for high-frequency copper clad laminates in the 5G field are low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss factor, and the 5G field has its own characteristics (microwave and millimeter wave applications) and has higher requirements for copper clad laminates. PTFE resin is currently a polymer material with a low dielectric constant. Its dielectric properties and dielectric loss can meet the requirements of communication base stations in the 5G field. Therefore, the production, development and processing of PTFE high-frequency cladding boards are gradually Become a key technology for the development of the 5G field.

Application of PTFE in radio frequency cables

RF cables are widely used in the 5G field, and the performance of PTFE enables it to play an important role in RF cables. PTFE has strong electrical insulation, can be used in a wide temperature range, and has a low dielectric constant and dielectric loss. In addition, polytetrafluoroethylene can be further made into expanded polytetrafluoroethylene material through unidirectional or biaxial stretching, so that its dielectric constant can be further reduced.

Such excellent properties make PTFE more suitable for making low-attenuation data transmission cables. Therefore, PTFE radio frequency cables are widely used in 5G base station antenna systems. For example, in the feed network of the base station antenna system, the use of Teflon-insulated coaxial cables to connect important components such as phase shifters and power dividers can play a better role. In addition, the 5G base station has a higher electromagnetic wave signal frequency, and the use of polytetrafluoroethylene semi-flexible coaxial cables can better meet this requirement.

Other applications of PTFE in the field of 5G

In the existing production and application, PTFE is also used to make radar antenna boards, and ceramic plates and PTFE materials are used in this type of radar antenna boards. The ceramic plate has good anti-interference and anti-lightning ability, and the periphery of the ceramic plate is made of polytetrafluoroethylene material to make a plastic plate, which plays the role of wear resistance and corrosion resistance. This invention also promotes better development in the 5G field.

In addition to being used to make high-frequency copper clad laminates, ray cables, and radar antenna boards in the 5G field, PTFE is still widely used in various connectors in the 5G field due to its superior properties such as insulation and high temperature resistance. In the future, in the further development of 5G information technology, PTFE materials will definitely play a greater role.
