Because of the low surface tension of fluorine polymers, the membranes made of fluorinated polymers (such as ETFE) have self-cleaning functions, and the dust can be washed only by flushing of rainwater.
Fluorine polymer film has very good tearing strength, good puncture resistance and hail prevention function. In addition, fluoride polymers have self-retardant and can prevent dripping. These properties make fluorine polymers suitable for construction.
Usually extruded fluorine polymer film thickness is 100~250 μ m, can be connected through a hot seal. In Japan, fluorinated polymer membranes have been used in stadiums, swimming pools, botanical gardens and large greenhouses.
ETFE film appeared in the 2006 German World Cup soccer tournament. Asahi Glass Company offers 150000m2 Aflex film for the production of Munich's Allianz-Arena soccer stadium ceiling. Most of the structures of the stadium that held the opening ceremony of the World Cup were manufactured by ETFE Thin films. The ETFE film can make the connection between the walls and ceilings smoother, while also allowing the turf to grow through a quantitative sunlight and can make walls and ceilings used as a monitor screen.
