Foam extinguishing agent can be classified into chemical foam extinguishing agent and air foam extinguishing agent. Chemical bubbles are produced by chemical reactions through aqueous solutions of aluminium sulfate and sodium carbonate, and the gases contained in the foam are carbon dioxide. The air bubble is generated by mixing the aqueous solution of the air foam extinguishing agent and the air in the foam generator, so the air bubble is called a mechanical foam, and the gases contained in the foam are air.

According to the type and use of foaming agent, the low magnification air foam fire extinguishing agent is divided into protein foam, fluorine protein foam, water-forming foam, synthetic foam, soluble foam type. Medium and high-number foam extinguishing agent belongs to the type of synthetic foam.
