R290 Refrigerant (R290)
R290, commonly known as Propane, features:
1, basic information: molecular formula: C3H8 molecular weight: 44.10, appearance and properties: colorless gas, pure odorless, solubility: slightly soluble in water, soluble in ether, ethanol;
2, physical and chemical properties: flash point (℃) : -104 (flash point: the temperature of the first flash when the mixture of steam and air on the surface of combustible liquid contacts with fire), explosion limit %(V/V) : 9.5, explosion limit %(V/V) : 2.1 relative density (air =1) : 1.56, heat of combustion (kJ/mol) : Ignition temperature (℃) : 450~470.
3, use safety:
Health hazards: simple asphyxiation and anesthesia effect. Brief human exposure to 1% propane does not cause symptoms; Concentrations below 10% cause only mild dizziness; Anesthesia and loss of consciousness may occur when exposed to high concentration. Very high concentrations can cause asphyxia.
Dangerous properties: flammable gas, can form explosive mixture when mixed with air, in case of heat and open flame combustion and explosion risk.
What are the conditions for R290 to explode?
Four elements of the R290 explosion:
A, fuel (R290);
B. Oxygen (air);
C. Specific concentration range (2.1%--9.5%);
D. Ignition source (≧450℃);
R290 can only be dangerous if all four conditions are met at once!
