Isobutane, an organic compound, chemical formula C4H10, is a colorless flammable gas at room temperature and pressure. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, etc., and air to form explosive mixtures, mainly in natural gas, refinery gas and cracking gas, obtained by physical separation, can also be prepared by isomerization of n-butane. It is mainly used to produce isooctane by alkylation with isobutene, as an improver of gasoline octane number, and can also be used as a refrigerant.
Application field
1. It is mainly used for the production of isooctane by alkylation with isobutene and used as an octane number improver for gasoline. Isobutene and propylene can be prepared by cracking. Alkylated gasoline can be prepared by alkylation with n-butene and propylene. Methacrylic acid, acetone and methanol can be prepared. It can also be used as a refrigerant.
2. High purity isobutane is mainly used as standard gas and special standard mixture.
3. used for the synthesis of isooctane, as gasoline octane number improtant, used for the production of isobutene, propylene, methacrylic acid, as refrigerant, etc.
