The Fluorine and Energy Materials Division of American Obia Company is one of the few suppliers of battery materials such as electrolytes, electrolyte fluoride salts and additives in Europe and the United States. In November last year, the company also announced the establishment of a joint venture with SYENSQO (formerly Solvay), the largest overseas PVDF manufacturer, to produce adhesive PVDF in the United States (Syensqo started construction of the largest polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) plant in North America). The company received a $100 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy in 2022 and plans to produce lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) in the United States. The proposed factory will produce up to 10,000 tons of LiPF6 per year, which is enough to support the annual production of more than 1 million all-electric vehicles. In addition, given China's graphite export restrictions, the company has also launched a graphite recycling business.
