HFA 152a propellant medical grade is a new, sustainable medical propellant for use in pMDIs for treatment of respiratory disorders such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

HFA 152a is also known as difluoroethane, with a chemical formula of C2H4F2 and a molecular weight of 66.05. It is a colorless gas that is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohol and ether solvents. Its boiling point is -24.05℃.

Propellant: In the pharmaceutical industry, difluoroethane R152a is used to push the drug out of drug preparations such as pressurized metered dose inhalation aerosols (pMDIs).

In addition to its application in the medical field, HFA 152a also has the following uses:

Foaming agent: used to produce foam plastics. During the polymer formation process, it evaporates under heat to produce bubbles, making the material form a porous structure, which is used to make thermal insulation and sound insulation materials, etc.

Refrigerant: difluoroethane can be used as a refrigerant in some refrigeration equipment. However, due to its flammability, its application in air conditioning and other fields is limited, but it is still used in some specific refrigeration systems.

Others: HFA 152a is an intermediate for the preparation of vinylidene fluoride, and is also the main industrial raw material for polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and fluororubber. It can also be used as a fire extinguishing agent and a solvent in cleaning products.
